RE: Cruise control

Why don't you take it in to have a professional diagnose the problem with their computerized stuff?

RE: Bike Rack on Trailer Bumper - welding modification

We towed 4 bikes (adult size) on a bolt-on bracket attached to the rear bumper of our 28' Fleetwood trailer for over 20K miles and no problems. We always ran a rope from the bikes over top of the trailer all the way to the front and secured to the frame at the hitch. I think this took enough of the weight off the rear bumper to avoid problems. Also we did it in case the bumper at rear let go... at least the bikes would still be attached to the trailer and not crashing on the highway. Now we bought a new trailer (32') and this time we had a structural steel support welded on to the frame with an integral hitch. Now we put the bike rack in the new hitch and the weight is distributed to both sides and the rear of the frame. When we travel we secure the bike rack and bikes so there is as close to zero movement as possible. Last year we shrink-wrapped them in place to travel from Toronto to Florida and no problems at all. For us biking is such an important part of camping we'd never leave them behind. If you want pics send a PM.

RE: Honda EU 2000i (little used, runs poorly)

There's tons of products that are supposed to clean out the gunk but I've not found any that really work. You can also try adding some octane boost to the fuel in the tank in order to run it out.

RE: gray and black water gate valves.

I have the same problem and in my case I think salt from the winter roads got in the mechanism and is causing the problem.

RE: Can I quiet Equal-i-zer bars?

Thanks for the info Barney. I lubricated both the upper and lower surfaces there. Maybe it would be better to skip the lube on the upper side and just keep it clean to maximize the sway control properties.

RE: Can I quiet Equal-i-zer bars?

The worst thing about not greasing them is the looks you get from other people... they think you've just done some kind of major damage to your trailer! We just got ours recently and have put about 5000 km on them. The hitch side does need cleaning out after a while and I greased it up there too but I think most importantly made sure the two bolts were tightened to spec... 100fp I recall... the side towards the trailer... I just keep painting the bars to keep the rust down and not worry about the noise. I think that's the point of the most sway reduction and I'd rather have the noise than reduce the sway control as we have a 32' trailer. Cheers!

RE: Quebec traffic light question

You are correct. flashing green means the opposite traffic has a red or also has a flashing green for them to turn left only. It is intended for you to make your left turn without delay. In Quebec it's a bit different because they sometimes have the flash first and sometimes at the end of the light. Also in Quebec, you cannot turn right on a red light.

RE: Walmart more heart then KOA

I can't believe this. come on now... if you don't like it don't go back. simple. But no need to bash the entire chain and say things like "all KOA desk clerks are rude" etc. Personally, I've only been once and although I didn't really like the location the people there were top notch.

RE: Walmart more heart then KOA

Enjoy your camping at Walmart... until they decide they no longer want you. Then you'll have to stay in the driveway. That's the thing about camping... there's something for everyone.
